Perhaps an odd question but after one of the lads at work had to wait a day for one of somebody to bring him his house keys which he had left at work (read 'left them on the rig and had to wait for the next flight'), I was wondering what would happen if I lost my keys as I have one of those little plug in immobilizer things, but only one, I've got a spare set of keys but they're anly any good if I've locked the other set in the car!

The immobiliser a genuine porsche one fitted to my 1991 944, befor they went to the transponder in the key type of thing.
Will I be able to get one from the main dealer?, I would presume there will be some sort of code to quote as they will be quite a few combinations, is there a number hidden on the car somewhere or should there be something in the handbook to allow replacement?
Any help on this?

If it is the same type as fitted to 993s then you can get a replacement fron a company called Hamilton and Palmer. Hamilton & Palmer fitted the alarms and immobilisers to Porsches in the days before they became factory fit.

There is a number with the immobiliser key that H&P will need to provide a replacement. If you don't have this then you will need to send them your key for them to read and copy. Takes three to four days.
H & P can be reached on 01732 760022. I found them to be very helpfull.

Of course if it may not be the same as a 993, in which case ignore everything I have told you.

Thanks for the info, I would guess they read the code or whatever it is on the immobiliser key and make a clone,I'll give them a ring.
