After getting various prices for this on a GT3 Mk2 (including £500 from one OPC because it had to include an alignment check!), thought I'd double-check the warranty extension position.
Do I need to extend the warranty with the OPC that does the inspection or can I purchase the extended warranty at my local OPC shortly after? Does it make any difference where it's bought from, as I assume the warranty covers work at any UK OPC?

You would get the warranty through the dealer who does the inspection. And you can claim anywhere.
