Hi Everyone,

I bought a 996tt with X50, aerokit, pccb, pcm2 etc, Lapis with metropole leather, two months ago. Allready had replacement pcm and battery! Tiptronic, as I drive in/around London & M25 a lot. Prefer not to have this ultimately, but felt manual would be just too much for sitting in traffic up to 4 hours, 3 days a week or so..

Loosely considering new wheels and/or exhaust so will look for relevant posts with interest.

Anyway just wanted to say Hi and look forward to participating in the banter !!!

Hi, fellow 996TT owner here.
I used to commute into Richmond and longed for Tiptronic when crawling through traffic, now moved jobs and when I use the car (not as often as I would like at the moment) I do prefer manual when blatting around Surrey !

Hi,

I still drive around Richmond....the traffic SUCKS. I read historic posts with the Tip/manual debate and certainly won't be restarting it. Horses for courses..

Oh what car car. It sounds awesome but I can well understand the reason for the "gulp" in your profile when mentioning PCCB's. Current OPC replacement cost is £3400 per corner

Some pics would be fab if you can manage to post.

What type alloys do you have. Are they the standard 18" turbo alloys or the rather more sexier 18" monobloc alloys fitted to the turbo S?

Standard wheels, which were totally 100% unmarked until yesterday afternoon
Worst bit is, I can't blame anyone it was all my own work.

Welcome.

Another one doing the slog through London every day. Just changed from a Tip to a manual. Personal choice but much prefer the manual.

Best advise I can give you is trade it by a manual... It may be hard to hear or sound harsh but its not, its an honest opinion and if you can have your OPC borrow you one for a couple of days you will see what I mean. 996 Turbo motoring can be SOOO MUCH better.

Your goodself and others, I've read your previous postings with interest for a little while now. It just seems a little odd now I've finally registered to communicate directly rather than simply read everyones' comments/thoughts

I see, was concerned I'd upset someone else...

I stood at the side for a few months before dipping my toes in the water, once you're in it's (mostly) lovely.

Nice car btw.

Dont worry - there are a few other debates that havent been touched upon yet:
tt vs gt3
rms
heal and toe
aircooled vs watercooled

I know exactly how you feel. I had a VERY CLOSE nearside wheel/kerb interface within approximately 5 minutes of collecting the car from the dealer. Almost wanted to slash my wrists there and then!

Welcome chillerman, regarding wheels, I`m biased but I like these, as illustrated, also recommend a tubi exhaust , big improvement IMO over the standard sound, go to Manu at Scuderia systems for a price, a real enthusiast and a lovely chap !!!

X50 and PCCB - assumed it was a TTS as PCCB on a TT is rare.

I am guessing not unless the first owner had good taste to remove the GT silver painted alloys of the TTS and replace with the std alloy. c2dtg - were they lighter monoboc? thought they were just painted!

loevely car - shame about the tip but understand your preference if you sit in traffic all day

Welcome to another TT owner-Tip or manual-it's all good. Just get out there and drive it-I've been to Frankfurt and Cannes this year and the car loved it.

This thread needs more pics of TT's.
