Just went for a high speed ride in my gt2 ..finally seen what it could do top end...!! all i can say is forget the 997tt at 110k sterling.... 996 gt2s are faster(i have driven both at high speeds).. the 996 gt2 at half the price is a better car by far...!!! after 8 months of ownership im still learning how fast it really is ... mental...!!!
best value performance car on the planet at the moment by a long way... should be worth more than mid 60s...!!!!wow..!!scary fast...!!

Definately scary! not so sure a better car than the 997tt, just very different and aiming at a different market..gt2 is fairly compromised 2 seater car which takes serious concentration to drive quick especially in poor weather(however that is what makes it ultimately rewarding to drive).997tt is a pussycat by comparison at home in Sainsbury's car park as it is on a quick a/b road. Not sure you will ever get the rush from driving a 997tt that you can get in a gt2 however driving up the M1 to Scotland in the pouring rain after a long boozy weekend feeling knackered i think the 997tt would be a much nicer place to be.If i could afford lots of cars the Gt2 would certainly be one of the collection but i couldnt suffer it as an everyday car.IMO of course.

Yep, if you want somthing for straight line speed then the GT2 has to be the weapon of choice (and its the best looking 996). If you want something thats fast on the twisty bits, its gotta be a GT3RS but if you want the best of both worlds then the TT is the daddy!

A very reasonable response from KayC - is this your alter ego....?
Don't let the usual crowd see this - you'll start to put a dent in your reputation

KLeonard - you obviously seem quite enamoured with your car now. Were you not looking to sell a while back? Why the change of heart? No critisism intended, just interested.

Agree Pugs - the self opinionated, over vocal, posters spoil this place at times.

Enjoy your GT2.

Scary fast?

The one I drove did very little for me. I approached it thinking it was going to be so mind blowing I would have to recalibrate my mind just as I do every time I ride a 1000cc bike.

All it did was accelerate pretty fast and then hit the limiter way too early. This was in turn followed by more acceleration from an engine that neither sung nor screamed, like a decent engine should. I felt far more alive and invigorated by spinning round in Manu's (scuderia systems) GT3 MKII with de-cats.

They look good and they are definitely fast but 'scary', I don't think so !

hang on a sec, originator posts an opinion..... in a child like manner.

I point my opinion on the post, judging the poster on all the other threads he has posted that read the same.

How can I be over opinionated and the original poster isnt?

Just his opinion.....
From my view point, I've had many big sportsbikes, I thought the GT2 was incredible - not as fast as a sportsbike, but felt quicker, just because of it's comparable size. Acceleration way past sane speeds was immense - something that is not apparent on the legal side of 100mph. Previously, the only car that amazed me, was the F40 I had a go in - the GT2 is up there with that......

This atitude towards the GT2 is what makes them widowmakers... the lack of respect for the huge torque, 2WD and PSM absence combo makes snap oversteer a real concern when driven fast or deteriorated weather conditions. Drive your 1000cc bike safely.
