993 Air Con Clutch cutting in and out
Discussion
Just had my air con gas topped up and now the clutch on the compressor keeps cutting in and out at about 2 second intervals.
The engineer reckons it's either the temp or pressure sensor. Does anybody know how easy these are to replace and estimated cost for garage and DIY? (Guess DIY isn't an option as it means breaking into the system?)
Cheers

I am currently getting the AC sorted on my 993 and as far as I know the symptoms you describe could be down to one of three things:-
1). The pressure switch has become activated due to too much gas as it only needs 840g and unfortunately some garages have been known to overgas 993's massively and this can cause this issue as bizarrely can too little gas. (cheap fix evacuate the system and get the right amount of gas put in).
2). The pressure switch has failed. (Easy to get at but not sure of part costs).
3). The control unit has failed - £££££
Good Luck.

If it was regassed based on pressure rather than volume it could well have too much gas. For whatever reason 993's run lower AC operating pressures than other R134a cars. See http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums for the graphs.
