I noticed it MASSIVELY when doing a standing mile at Millbrook - though figured that was not realistic road conditions and was therefore not so much of an issue...?

I can only assume that it's the same set up as the Cayman S. ie, when you have sport chrono engaged it makes the rev limiter more severe - it's softer when it's off.

Thats eactly how it works... It catches me out from time to time, just by the fact that it cuts in slightly lower than my normally aspirated, and I'm not quite tuned to it I guess.
It does come in quite hard, but remember that the engine acceleration is still pretty massive at that point so its going to feel hard!

i have a gt2 and its not as severe.... you can bounce it off the limiter before the next gear... hit the limiter in a 997tt and it slows u up.. like dapping the brakes..!!

Shouldn't be a problem for most turbo drivers as better accelleration is achieved by changing up well before the red line. Clearly it would be something for the normally aspirated crew to be made aware of.

Slightly off topic...

I know that in the old M5, you could not exceed a certain rev range until the engine had warmed up and on the Honda S2000 you can't go over 6k rpm (into VTEC) until it shows two bars on the coolant temp gauge.

Do any P-cars have the same thing?
