I mean seriously, Henry will be having heart palpitations:

Compare

and contrast!

first one looks cheap (is it the mods or godawful (IMHO) ruffled leather), second one is TTS money for gawds sake

The first one has engine and suspension mods which will negatively affect the price and those seats looks a bit knackered to me. The second one is from a dealer.

Seats look knackered? Really?

I think it looks stunning, the wheels add just the right attitude without naffetry.

If it's a genuine car (i.e. 1 not 2/ not ex-shunter) it's a firkin' give away!

The other car is effectively brand new and has to be worth £60k to the right punter.

For a sensible buyer the suspension mods should make the car more attractive, at 50k miles the original suspension has had it. I changed mine to PS9's, it transformed the car. The same comments apply to the turbo's, at 50K/60K the turbo's need an overhaul and why not replace them with K24's, Porsche did on the S, although the K16 hybred seems to be the better route. Exhaust upgrade, less back pressure, it's got to be a good idea.

What matters is how the car drives, these upgrades should make it a much better car.

This car is the same spec as an S, it's got the S body kit including the air scoops in the rear wheel arch, that was a £6k option.

Looks like a cheap car to me, but I would get a compression test done before purchase.

Nope, I disagree, people who come to view Porsche 993 tts at this kind of outlay for such an old car, aren't neccessarily the same- track performance-orientated folk who come here to PH. Alot of them are REALLY finicky about manushi on 993s and originalty. I've had to deal with this folks when I put my 993tt on the market last year.
The K24s definately effect the low speed torque and lag (despite being "fast-spool"- whatever that means )- it's different if the car was a 996 turbo or newer Porsche, but some of the folks in the market for a 993 Turbo are quite often into the whole 'garage queen scene'.

I would be put of by suspension mods if the Turbo now rode alot stiffer than mine, because of the daily road use my car gets.
I still think that 50K miles car is a give away!

Back in 1989/90 the classic/prestige market went a bit crazy and lots of cars, esp 930 turbos, were being advertised and changing hands for silly money.

The bubble burst and we all thought it would never happen again.

Well, the market is better educated but prices of certain rare and desirable cars have risen, many above the dizzy heights of 1989/90. This, in turn, is inflating some people's values for other less important cars. As a result you will start to see questionable asking prices for some models, and I would put the 993TT in this category.

It's only a matter of time before we have an economic dip, possibly as a result of oil prices, and these prices will be corrected.

I recently drove a very, very low mileage 993TT which was undoubtedly in beautiful external condition but which felt like an absolute pig to drive.I am not remotely technically minded but the machine had clearly been lovingly tended for the best part of 10 years on the outside but mechanically, having been allowed to sit like that,I suspect it required a reasonable amount of work and expense to get back up to scratch. It's been said a million times before, but so often these low mileage garage queens are good for collectors only, not drivers, not that this is necessarily relevant to either of the cars featured.

The black TT is stunning. I would take a specialist over to the car, have it checked and buy it on the spot. Just beautiful. Pity about the lack of 38 grand though.

That top one looks like a bargain! PSS9 gives a much better ride than standard suspension anyway. The wheels look great etc.
I thought this was sold off of pistonheads only a month or so ago? Advertised as a 500bhp monster or something? Maybe there's two of them.....

As a novice I think the top one is great value but would be put off by Techart bits (which just makes me think of tacky chrome alloys and nasty bodykits), PSS9 is OEM and so holds less fears to someone like me. Better exhaust is fine by me, although I would be less nervous of replaced std turbos (yes they used K24s in the TTS but what else did they upgrade to compensate that this might not have?).

Obviously I would get a specialist to look it over, budget to swap the wheels back to std, switch suspension and get a leather specialist to replace the leather and remove the ruffled leather bits wich I detest even when new (why do people tick this box!??)

The bottom just looks ludicrously over-priced to me

Excellent Price at that price it suggests it may have been in a shunt though as going rate is nearer £45k
