I know I posted a couple of weeks ago re 993 rs or clubsport... but what can you tell me about the 993 turbo s?
I know its a very different car, and not really a track car, but it is rare nevertheless! Which is part of the reason I am looking at the 993 rs clubsport.
How much do they go for?
Will they reach classic status like the rs?
What are they like to drive?
I know they are not a track car, but since I will be racing next season, that doesn't really matter.
All info appreciated.

They're crap, basically.
Overweight, underpowered and handle very much in the mould of Lada's less than seminal Riva 1.3L.
Round a track, well, I shouldn't bother.
Come to think of it, I don't, unless you count a firkin' great impression of a giant, automotive feline thrashing about in a correspondingly large kitty litter tray.
Stick to the RS - a man's car.
Broadsword, out.

From memory, the car was a run out version for the 993 Turbo. 450bhp, scoops infront the rear wheel arch and a few turbo S logos dotted around the interior. think it came with bucker seats and no rear seats as standard. Think they brought about 30 into the UK. Price wise I think they change hands for about 15/20k more than an equivalent 993 turbo.
Will they reach the 993RS price model in terms of value stabilty/appreciation? Unlikely, the 993 RS and the GT2 are special cases due to their lightness and on track ability.

The various Turbo models have a loyal following, but I wouldn't classify any of them as a potential investment. Even 959 values are pretty stagnant.
The reason is complexity and potential running costs. The 'collector/classic' market prefers lightweight, simplicity, useability, and track heritage - hence the popularity of the various air-cooled RS models.

I am really surprised by the responses. I thought this was a highly thought of and desirable car... how wrong I was!
The car I was thinking about is being advertised in the classifieds on PH.
Seems I should stick with my original thoughts and go for the clubsport... the wife will not be pleased, with it having only two seats!!

Take what is said here with a pinch of salt. After all this is the stomping ground for the GT3 mafia and the afluent "If it ain't new it's crap" weekend toy brigade.
It's different strokes for different folks.
It's just a run out edition for the 993 Turbo, stiffer, with the K24s rather than the K16s and what others have said.
It's totally different to a 993 RS so unfair to compare. It's not a track machine- it's follows a different philosophy. It's not in the same vein- in terms of long term value appreciation as the RS or GT2, but it won't lose much, think of it as a modern day 930 Turbo LE- which has held it's value pretty well.
I was thinking of getting one at one time, but found it a bit stiff for my needs and prefered the K16 turbo torque delivery at low speeds...
