Arghh Please help - scrathced boxster
Discussion
I recently bought a 2000 Boxster S in metallic olive green. I parked it on our street and a bird promptly did its business on the back left wing. I went out with warm water and a kitchen sponge, but being a complete tit, used the corse side to do get rid of it, and have therefore got a patch about the size of a large badgers paw where I have lightly scratched the paint work. I took it to my normal car cleaning bloke this morning who put some normal wax on it which seems to have covered most of it up really well but he recommended some sort of green TCut wax??? that will do a better job to cover it up until I can afford to get the wing resprayed...
Anyone got any ideas, advice on the wax/ getting the wing resprayed, cost etc....
Cheers.

TCut polish - the traditional stuff - removes scratches through mild abrasion. Be careful as you can take too much paint off the modern clearcoat your Boxster will have; if it goes through the clearcoat to the base colour coat you could need a respray.
Waxes will provide a short term cosmetic solution - no matter what colour they are - the green will make little difference in practice. They work by filling in the scratches on the surface of the clearcoat rather than by abrading them down. The problem is that the wax will wear off.
The coloured wax 'chip sticks' you sometimes see are only of use when applied extremely thickly (far thicker than buffed off waxes), as they are then opaque and can provide a reasonable job at covering a deep scratch that goes through to primer etc.
