Hello!

My brakes are not worn yet but aren't new either. So from the experience of users here, which is the best upgrade? Alcons or Brembos and why? Usage is mostly errr 'fast' road usage (I know, I know, it should be on track; let the flaming begin!!!!!!!!!!) Also what do Manthey stick on the car? It is JZM's Alcons or something else? Anyone had the Manthey 'ring suspension installed on their mk2/RS?

Manu you perv, what is wrong with your bremsport six pots? They are a decent caliper. The brake discs should be fine and dandy, too. You could always look at a more aggressive pad compound perhaps? I think one of the GT3 Russells had a Manthey set up on a Mk2... was it the yellow one that Steve Rance has had a go in... fettled by one Mr Andy Fearns unless I'm mistaken. (Which I often am! )

I have Manthey on MKII, and it's awesome, especially at the ring, as it still has plenty compliance.

Russ H, has put Brembos on His PCCB calipers, but pretty sure Alcons will fit too, well front anyway, as i think rears
are bigger on PCCB.

No need to change any callipers etc. I very much like the alcons + pagid RS29 pads I have. Supplied by JZM. Would suggest a more road orientated pad if you aren't going on track though as these need a bit of braking to warm up (not much, but nevertheless), and also have a tendancy to squeal if you don't keep them bedded in (Which is impossible with road use).

Like Glenn I have the Manthey K&W suspension and it is excellent, particularly for the Nordscheife. I've run the car for 24,000 miles now with that suspension and their engine upgrade without any problems.

For brakes, I have the Brembos and RS29s - lasted very well so far. Supplied by Parr. From my friends I hear there is little in the performance between the Alcons and Brembos, but the Alcons may suffer less rattle.

Kind regards

Steve

The alcons don't rattle. At least mine haven't yet.

Steve, how bad is this rattle? Is it cement mixer type or is it such that it increases the raw feel of the car.

Also, are the floaters much lighter - thinking of unsprung weight?

cheers

Ajit.

Yep, but they changed the mounting hardware to avoid that on the newer ones. Not to mention made the fronts bigger!

Thanks!
Ref Manthey KW my understanding is that it manages to increase compliance whilst not compromising track performance. Is this true? Sounds amazing if it does. I am not concerned about adjustability as I want ONE setup all the time. (my car as the Parr Stage 1 at the mo).
I'll keep standard calipers but change disc/pad. If RS29 is too aggressive for road, which pad do you guys recommend? Most important though; with new disc/pad upgrades have you seen increased braking performance or just increased durability?

It's mostly durability in my case, although going to a full out endurance race pad obviously has benefits. I was on ceramics though and they've always had more bite than steels. If your current disks are holding up fine and they are steels, I won't bother changing until they need it. You may still want to uprate the pads though.

I think the Manthey KW can improve compliance without compromising track performance, but depends on how they set it up for you.

You need to talk to JZM about the dampers and pads. They will be able to tell you everything you need to know.

p.s. Sorry I never called you back about the exhausts. Forgot about it, and now I've got other priorities to deal with.
