Thought I'd throw this one over to the PH Porsche massive.

I was given a Porsche 993 experience at Silverstone as a gift (through Buy A Gift) and was wondering if people can give me some pointers so I don't end up stuffing it.

Firstly, has anyone on here done this experience day? If so, what's it like?

Secondly, I know that I'm not to brake or accelerate hard when the front wheels are not straight, don't go into a corner on a trailing throttle and all that but is there anything else I should know?

What can I do to get the best out of my experience? I don't have many laps to play with so want to make sure that those I do have are good ones.

If anybody has any advice, it would be most gratefully recieved.

Dan

Edited to add, it's a left hooker.

I did a day with Don Palmer a few weeks ago in my own 993 - discussed briefly in this thread:

www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?t=271671

The only thing I'd add is that its actually bl**dy hard to unstick a 993 so I wouldn't worry unduly about that. I think my main tip to get the most out of it is set yourself up for the corner before the corner, and don't try to fix it halfway through.

Also they love to rev, so don't be afraid to use more than 5K - redline 6750 (iirc).

I have to agree with the above. They are very hard to unstick in both dry and wet conditions. Even when they do let go, it is not without warning.

Leave anything that gives you access to hard currency at home, otherwise you'll be detouring past a dealership on your way home :-)
