Has anybody placed an order, LOI, etc?

Im having nasty nasty thoughts about the possibility of discussing with my dealer about making the turbo order a GT2 one instead. Something of an incredibly stupid move or a brilliant idea?

Just something about those spy shots the other month, the GT2 looked evil again! Made the 3 look like a tofu munching couscous vegie lover! Either way...WANT ONE!

DJC, why would you want to do that, just cos' it looks evil and goes like stink with 462 bhp on tap but, when the driver of the silver GT2 said:

There are only two people in the world who will know what I mean and find it funny, but when Schumacher crossed the finishing line at Hockenheim yesterday I imagined yellabelly broadsiding it around the final bend behind him. Total respect for what you did in that car, how you kept up with us I'll never know. I've lost count of the time Lee reported "That f**king TVR's STILL THERE!!!!!!!!!".

(The silver and black GT2s I had the pleasure of following)

then being realistic I think you need a V6S, in fact I'll be really noble and do a direct swop for the Saggy

After the 996 GT2 lost almost £70k in 2 years, I don't think I'd be ordering one even if I could afford the depreciation!

Slight exageration there Steve.....My 2001 car originally cost IRO £115k and I paid around £80k when it was 2 years old - would now be around the £60k mark. Still a big hit I know, but the Press slating it got didn't do any favours to the residuals.
Hopefully they will have learnt their lesson, and do it right 1st time, this time around.
Still the best looking 911 ever, in my book......

BTW change the order and get that GT2......

I've written a letter of intent (for what it's worth).

Got the same "officially it isn't even planned, but they don't tell us anything" from three OPCs.

Was told it could be upto £140k based on 110 ish for a 997 turbo.

Plan is to get a the itch of a red beast from Italy out of my system then get a proper car.

Though I haven't got round to trying one, the reports on the 997 Turbo seem outstanding. Based on that, a 997 GT2 could be a truely great car. I fancy a piece of that!

The depreciation is the only potential issue for me. I'll need to know how many they're going to make.

As many as they can sell presumably. Don't think the 996 GT2 was ever a limited run model.

reckon Porshce might follow the pattern of the 997 GT3, make the GT2 more a more powerful 2wd version of the 997TT, some use of lighter materials but keep PSM, dial in some initial understeer and don't strip it out as much, eg allow it to be specced up with Bose and PCM (only the MY04 996GT2 had PCM as an option).

So it becomes a little more user-friendly and more like a turbo S.

996 GT2 will still be better looking if the overly fussy 997TT is anything to go by
