Wow......My old '84 Carrera has gone. And so has my 2001 Boxster. Now nestled away in my garage is a 2002 Carrera. No reason for the post other than to say that since I bought it yesterday (Friday 30th June) - I have been unable to stop grinning.....

A private purchase but it has 10 months Porsche Warranty with it (no RMS woes to worry about - the threads didn't put me off - but SOMEONE at Stuttgart wants rocketing for allowing such an engineering problem to get the better of them).

It drives beautifully and is so quiet (until she starts to sing!!!!) and I'm like a Chesire Cat. Just wanted to share it with y'all. It's a million miles from what I expected and I'm glad I didn't go for the C4 in the end......

Seal Grey with Black leather. I'm in Love!!!!!!!!

Congrats on joining the water pumpers clarkey, ignore the pipe and slipers brigade they're just jealous of your well engineered door check straps

well done clarkey and you are so right about the C4s

feel dead and pointless! like how much off roading do people do these days anyway!

especially in range rover sports!

Lovely car and hugely capable. If you've got a good one, she should keep you smiling for a good while yet. Congratulations on the purchase! Now just code the wheel spokes in grey with silver rims, get it Zymol-ed to death and post piccies.

Agree with the comments on the 4. Fine if you live in the Alps or somewhere snowbound a few weeks/months of the year, pointless everywhere else. Apart from the slightly dead drive, they give crappy economy, too.

sorry for late reponse, I bought a full kit and went for the klay and cleanser too aswell as the autowash etc etc etc been really busy all day (good job really cos the footy was crap)

www.911sport.co.uk did a good job of selling me more than I was originally out to purchase, I went for a tub of wax, came out with more cleaning products than a professional detailer.. .. .. .. concourse zymol wax along with detail wax, HD cleanser, leather treat, vinyl conditioner, lehm klay, lube for Lehm Klay, auto wash, clear auto bathe, wheel cleaner and wheel coat.. .. .. .. .. .. most of it came in a nice case too with brushes microfibre towels and other applicators

I only wanted it cos sleep envy (on here) reccomended after accusations of cleaning his car whilst we where sleeping at lemans, everyone elses car looked dirty apart from his, when confronted by this he said "I use zymol, thats why" so I had to at least try it (sorry im a sucker for things like this)

was also nice to have the crap scared out of me by Simon Harrod in his GT2, screams of "OK im scared now, slow down please" after 3rd gear wheel spins at 90 (mpg obviously) Simon was also loitering with intent at 911 sport, nice car though thanks for the ride (I sooooo want a GT2!!!!!!!)

anyways, shes looking good, still not finished though after 5 hours .. .. .. .. .. ..

just gonna get somthing to eat then back to finishing the plastics.

picks tomorrow after second complete coat of wax but even zymol cant hide the fact I need a front PU respray..... ....... ...... (thats what chasing GT3CS and 993RS round europe gets you)

Thanks guys! You're all SOOOO right! Getting the Zymol on it today......then a little more Minute Wax. I've always found that 5-6 decent Simoniz Minute Wax's between Zymol's gives me tons of protection and i can just look at dead flies and they fall off.

Only slight problem I've found so far is that o/s side lights don't work (front and rear). It cant be a fuse as the brake light still works. Replaced bulb in rear as welll and still nothing so i assume its a wiring fault. Warranty doesnt cover it (surprise....surprise....). Anyone have a similar experience?
By the way, read the link about diversity andf I have to say that my best friends 4.0l Chimera (which he bought the day before I got my 996) is a BEAST! Tons of torque and an altogether nice car. Horses for courses as he would say. (which is okay by me as he has 250 of them to my 320!!!!!) Hurrah!

Oh Bless. I know this joker. He's actually my best friend and lives round the corner. Drives a TVR Chim 400. Don't worry, he was my best friend before he bought the car.....
I've offered him my old AA Membership to show him there's no hard feelings.......
