Thanks for all the advice for cleaning these, i have just spent a horredous two hours cleaning these b*st*rd things and its fair to say they still look crap but less sooty.Can i just buy new tips and where and how much(boxster s)?Thanks.

Or get them polished by a professional metal finisher in your area? Look in your local yellow pages? If you're based in the SE I can suggest a good place.

I had a pair poilished locally - came back like new, and cost £15

New tips for 986 S will cost £150 from OPC - simple to fit, just one bolt...not sure about cost if its a 987

Give it a few more go's cleaning it and it should scrub up like new - use wire wool, a more abrasive variety and all that gunk will come off. Use Mer to polish it.
