I had my 993RS valeted with Zymol's Royale wax prior to Le Mans. The results are incredible! I dont think the car has looked better since leaving the factory - in fact probably better!
I had booked it with Dave from Sports Car Protection for their vintage wax
but having seen and heard about Royale, and sought their opinion ,I was persuaded to give it a try. I'm thrilled I did. Dave and Alex turned up in London from Birmingham at 9.00am and didnit leave till 7.30PM!! The dedication and enthusiasm they showed was really encouraging and they were a delight to deal with. Its not cheap, ( £500 for Royale as against £250 for vintage) but having just hosed off the flies from the Le Mans trip and used their two products after the trip the car looks just as good as when they did it. Great guys and company and fabulous product. Sports Car Protection paid over £5000 for their tub of wax and I'm told the price is now £7000!

If anyone can explain how to post photos I will put them on!

all things are relative. if he can afford to own and run a 993RS then.....

actually, if the question is about value for money, lets say he is selling the car - zymolled (ie mirror shiny, no swirls and whorls in the paint) versus just clean) you might find that £500 buys several grands worth of added asking price

Bloody well done

"too much money" - what a load of rubbish. It's his choice and you can see from his post that he's WELL chuffed; by the sound of it, alot more than £500 chuffed!

This discussion has occured many times on PH about the 'value' of such detailling to a car. I think if you treasure your car, enjoy looking after it, then the increase in knowledge and detail that such an application gives you is invaluable.

Perhaps too much money for personal use, but nothing in the OP strikes me as overly outrageous. In my humble opinion, £500 for two experts all day is pretty reasonable. The £5000 they paid will probably do them thirty or fourty cars, which works out nicely, then they get free refills, which works out even better.

OP gets shiny car, very happy, gets to blow bugs and grime off with a plant mister, even happier. Detailer gets happy customer, word of mouth business, and a dedicated PH thread.

One coast of Rejex every 4-6 months and the bugs just wipe off. Makes painr feel as smooth as silk as long as you clean and prepare the paint before application. Works great on the glass aswell.

Considering the travel time from Birmingham to london(2 hours each way)that works out at £17 per hour excluding materials,(they obviously dont use much wax!)..£8.50 per hour for the vintage..is that legal in the Human rights world?

The point is this. Do I go and buy myself a tiny tub of Royale wax for whatever that might cost plus all the little odds and sods that go with it. Then I get out of bed and spend the rest of the day from 9.00 till 7.15pm applying the stuff. They had two guys doing it so thats two man days. You've got to be joking. I have neither the time nor the inclination. Its the same as saying I'll get the kids bedroom painted for £500 properly or I could go to B & Q and buy paintbrushes, turps and paint and then spend the weekend doing it for a probably worse result. I'd employ the painter everytime and sit back with a chilled glass of chablis enjoying the result!
Anyway 10 year old cars deserve that extra care in my opinion. Royale wax hardens and will potect the car for about a year. Excellent value IMHO

mmmm have to disagree, if selling to a dealer, how clean it is wont make a jot of difference - there is no "is the car mirror clean" question in Glasses guide or any other car valuation publication.
If selling private then perhaps it will help sell it & having that work done shows a very well loved & looked after car, which is probably the biggest plus, but again no way will it make several £k's worth of difference to its 2nd hand price.

I am not knocking it, if I could justify the expense no doubt I would have it done myself, but you can get 75% of the effect with elbow grease, time, & a good highstreet clay bar/polish.

I agree very cheap and certainly not worth the aggro of doing it yourself...not so sure about the hardening of the wax being good for the car, there is a school of thought that suggests that wax softens and hardens due to temperature and that is not good for the paint in the long run and also discolours over time!Personally i have found synthetic polishes like Zaino far better and much cheaper.

you may be right, certainly when considering more mainstream cars. i'm thinking though that this being a 993rs, sort-of niche market, very sought after. they always seem to me to be rather idiosyncratically priced. in which case a £500 application of zymol will show it in very best light, indicate that is owner has either looked after it obsessively or has more money than sense, both of which are a plus to a potential buyer!

Yep exactly, if I was a buyer, the fact it had been done by the owner speaks volumes more than the fact its shiny, if you see what I mean !

Hi Clubsport - Can you explain how to upload the photos?!!

You need to get the picture hosted somewhere....then either post a link on here to the url,,,or...

type [pic] at the front of the url

and [/pic] at the end of url

it should then appear on the thread.....not sure of exact size requirements for using bandwidth on Ph....but most hosting sites already take car of that.

more info on this thread here,

Good luck! Look forward to seeing your car
