So the time has come for new boots for the 996.

I have had Continental Sport Contact N1s since I got the car. I only need rears, as the fronts have 5mm, BUT (and here is the rub...) I cannot source any N1s at all. They are, apparently, unobtainable.

So, two questions, dear friends.

1. Does anyone know where I can get 2x ContiSport Contact N1 265/35/ZR18

AND

2. If not, what should get....!

Best offer so far is (old faithful!) Bracknell Tyres who will do 4x Pirelli PZero N4 for £550 all in. Which seems remarkable value to me.

Any thoughts/advice gratefully received.

PS There is an alcohol related reward for a solution to (1) above

Have you tried Mytyres?

www.mytyres.co.uk/start.html

They have Conti SportContact2 N2s for 164 quid in 265/35/ZR18. The N1s must be discontinued.

P-Zeros will leave your alloys very exposed. Mine are pretty badly curbed now. I walked past a 996 with Michelin Pilot Sports and its wheels were far more protected.

Or maybe I just can't park.

I just had to put 2 new P Zero N3's on the back of mine after bubbling the sidewall of one of the originals. The original tyres (P Zero N1's) had rim protection and an Orange Pzero marking but the new ones do not have rim protection or the orange marking. Are Pirelli no longer making the rim protection tyres?

I'll let you know. Went for four PZero Rosso N4s from Bracknell Tyres for £540 all in.

Event were £110 more, but would come to me.

Ironically I got a call this morning from Monty's Tyres, they have sourced a pair of 6mm tread Conti N1s and would do them for £65 However I have a sort of a head problem with buying second hand tyres...........

i thought you are only supposed to go up one N number dude?

going to N4 could jeopardise any handling or warranty!

I've replaced my Conti Sport N1s with Rossos recently. Grip is certainly improved (over worn out, harderned Contis..), only down side is more resonance / road noise on some surfaces. Not really a problem.
