Just bought a Boxster - Questions...
Discussion
Hi gang,
As the title states, I am now the proud owner of a 1997 Boxster. Had a fabulous drive in to work this morning and I'm looking forward to a great drive home at 5.
One thing occurred to me today when I popped out for lunch.
Is it possible to alarm or immobilise the car with the hood down?
Having skim-read the manual last night I noticed a passage about pressing the key fob twice in quick succession to set the alarm but disable the interior sensor. I tried this today and it didn't seem to work when the hood was lowered (doors didn't stay locked).
Any suggestions?
Bob.

MMM.... I have not had a Boxster for a few years now but you could definately alarm with roof down I'm sure. Maybe it's a fault. Sorry but not much help!!
A good move! I love my Boxster (99 Tip).
You can still set the alarm with the roof down. Try it yourself, just lock the car with the windows up and put your hand in. The alarm will go off.
Pretty impressive!
If you lower the driver or passenger window with either the roof up or down, it switches off the motuion sensor for that area (passenger seat or driver seat space).
the motion sensors can be seen as black ovals nr the rear view mirror.
Serviced my car today at an OPC, supplied my own oil from costco (Mobil 1, 8 litres £48 approx) and the total price for the 36k minor service......£221.00 incl vat.
Amazing. and a great tip for new boxster owners.
Enjoy!

sorry to jump on this with a question...
i just went to a garage to look at a boxster S, and looking at the service history, the first was at 18k, then 32k...
the salesguy tried to tell me this was the normal inverval and it was a FSH... i dont believe him though...
so what are the intervals?

Yep 12K.
Update - it seems to work fine with the hood down now. It was probably just me. It's a bit confusing at the moment as the passenger side door lock sensor needs sorting. as a result it will sometimes cycle the central locking a couple of times when you lock it, which prevents it locking and setting the alarm.
