boxster tech question- help please

this evening, i had to call out the AA for an undercharged battery. He advised me to give the car a 1 hour run, which i did. my guages also went AWOL when it was jumped, he advised me to disconnect and reconnect in the morning to hopefully regain them.

My problem- I disconnected the battery(no problem), but then closed the bonnet. With no power, how can i possibly release the bonnet to get back in to reconnect??

I have a 2.7 2001 manual, older shape

if no power jump point in fuse box (drivers footwell) then find the pull cord installed normally underneath o/s/f headlamp you may need to even remove the wheel and arch liner to get a good look for the release cable.

If you're on the jump point connected to a non running car or spare battery you can just open the bonnet as normal, surely?

thanks, just hAD a llok and a feel and to no avail, so i guess i will have to strip it out? IIRC the rear one(cable) is much easier to get to

Attach battery to cigarette lighter point and open bonnet.

would i just do this using a jump lead on + terminal? sorry to appear blond but i am!!

yes plus sign on the red tag which pulls out in fuse box...negative onto the door check strap and then press the button...

Well it is flat and it won't start....

LOL, true. but i called them out tis evening too, i know they get arsey about similar probs regarding batteries

Any old battery will do to get you in.... Just attach it to the fuse board (preferrable) or cigarette lighter and open the bonnet as usual.

Edited to add:

Once you get in put the key in the ignition, switch off any accessories and turn it to position 1 before attaching the battery or your alarm will go beserk!

my only solution will be to borrow work car, disconnect battery then do this, as car is on drive facing house, and no room either side
