Where can I get a heated windscreen for my 1991 964 from?

never heard of one of these on a 964. Don't think it lists them on the pet either.

Do you mean a front windscreen with integral arial, or rear windscreen with heater element?

front. i believe porsche didn't do one but maybe another supplier does?

You do realise they have an integral arial don't you? Is that what your thinking?

You would wire it in yourself, as an option.

No I am not thinking of an aerial, but stripping out the heater for weight saving on a track car and fitting a heated screen to demist in the event of rain.

I thought Ford still had the rights to that technology/design. That's why you still only see it on Ford or cars related to Ford.

If you're worried about the screen misting up and you can't find a heated screen, try and get yourself some "Fog City". It's a plastic strip that sticks to the inside of the screen, and prevents misting. When I worked at TWR we used it on the BTCC Volvos and it's very effective. They also do visor inserts, so don't distort vision.

Sounds interesting...if anyone does this I'd be interested to see the results. Had aheated screen on my Escort XR3i and it was fabtastic!

I contacted the company but they didn't know as their expert was away this week. I will keep you posted. If anybody else out there knows any other companies please post.

We run one on the GT3 cup car. Simple enough to wire up through a relay and we have a twin element (1 each side) in case we need to reduce current drain during a race.

I would question why you need one on a 964 though. Being air cooled the cabin blower will come up to temperature much quicker than on a water cooled car so melting snow and ice shouldn`t be a problem. The car is also fitted with a multitude of motors to ensure solid delivery of air to the screen (unlike some of the earlier cars) for normal mist clearing.

The reason we run on on the race car is because we don`t have cabin heating and we tend to get a lot of moisture in the car during heavy rain / driver changes and platic side windows - 1/4 lights etc.

Is the screen the same fitting Henry? As I said before I want to take the heater system out.
