C2s - front luggage space
Discussion
thanks!
I imagine the 997 is the same size, near as dammit (i am now just crossing off those buggies that dont fit, which is most of them!)
If anyone knows of a range of from-birth (newborn) buggy that fits in the front of the 911 - this would be extremely valuable info
Thanks, Bruce

Let me try & cealr some confusion ...
We have a C2 with a 3 yo and another on the way. Had the car with 3yo as a new born.
Child seats
- rear facing seat: we have a Chicco 3-in-1 and the rear facing seat fitted in the back with my wife sitting in front (it wasn't supreme comfortable but do-able : we drove up to Yorkshire like this for example)
- couldn't find a good fitting front facing seat (at the time - but the market has changed and there seem to be good front facing seats now that fits) so bought the Porsche seat.
- Porsche seat looks uncomfortable but really isn't (children esp v young children just don't have the nerve endings for to get cramp in their neck!)
- 3yo is now using the Porsche seat as a booster seat in the back (without the bolster across the cushion)
- when the new one arrives it will go in the Chicco rear facer till old enough to "inherit" the Prosche seat by which time I'll have bought a different booster seat for the elder one
- issue for children in back is the stage before their legs are long enough to go into the seat well as the "stick out" from the fornt of the child seat. Our 3you has a bit of this probl at the moment and you can be in dager of squashing their feet a bit
Push chairs
- the Porsche one is great but expensive
- get a Baby Bjorn baby carrier!
- a Mclaren buggy fits behind the rear seats leaving you the boot space
- if you get one of the newer push chairs that now fit in the boot you will not have any space for anything else so what is the point? If you are going shopping and want to take a push chair I'd recommend getting a second car as a run around. Plus with the boot space of the C2 you CAN go away with a child in a push chair and all their asscociated stuff IF you have a C2 and its not filled with a buggy.
Bottom line is ... I bought the C2 cos I knew I'd be able to keep the car and use it as a sensible family car. Three years later we still ditch my wife's car for the 911 on long journeys. And remember the bigger the car the more rubbish you can fill it with.
Hope that helps. Enjoy the car.

Bruce - is the car for everyday use ie; your only car ?
If so, then Fulham seems to have some good advice.
Personally, I wouldn't want a pushchair folded in my car - maybe a bit precious I know, but I feel, over time it would start to take it's toll. My Zapp fits in the boot with space to spare.......squashy bags etc....but then it's not the only car....

Do you mean that you think that a buggy behind the rear seats is going to damage the car? Wouldn't agree especially compared with the amount of crumbs, mud, vomit & other pleasantries that the rear of a car used to transport children is going to take. All you get fron the buggy are a few mud marks from the wheels that easily remove with a cloth.

Fulham, I take my hat off to you for your use of the car - really....
But it's not for me - I see too many 'ladies that lunch' pulling buggies out from the back of their (husbands!) turbos at places like Bluewater etc. I guess you can be careful, and it's great for you that you use the car whatever the situation. I'm one of those sad w
ers that spends too much time cleaning and not enough time driving.....

Don't get me wrong it gets used pretty extensively but we do have a second car for real load lugging. But my attitude is very much ... its a car.
Oh and it gets washed approx once per year (main reason I go to OPC is for the valeting they give the car). I did try to vaccum the inside but the flex form the hoover wouldn't reach ... I could have swapped the cars round so it would have reached but then I realised I couldn't be arsed. I tihnk there is something re-assuring about a Porsche with more crumbs in it than most 4x4s. And they are only crumbs and will vaccum off!
thanks guys
It is not a main driver, as I use the train to commute, and we have another car in the household for main day to day use. My car just drives me to rugby practice - and mostly the boot space is used for a kitbag.
When we go away for weekends (to see the outlaws etc..), I just want to take my car inc the baby, that's all.
I will check out the Chicco, or maybe will end up with a zapp and a buzz, and a maxi cosy, and a foot muff, and a....
