Is it possible to fit 3 point rear........

seat belts in my 3.2 carrera, to replace the original lap belts?

Think so ,it had been done in my 1989 C4 (which started with lap belts) and there was an article on it in Porsche and 911 world written by Phil Raby. Theres a place near Wembley which does all sorts with seat belts which advertises in the p and 911 mag.

First thing to do is check if there are shoulder belt mounting points in the bulkhead under the parcel shelf. It there are, then fitting 3 point belts is an easy DIY job. If not, then suggest you use a specialist like QuickFit Safety Belt Systems.

Sorry think the article was on an 89 964, so may not be fully applicable to a 3.2, but should guide you to the fixing points you need to look for. Quick Fit Saftey belts are good and should be able to answer your query directly.

Had them fitted to my '83 930 a few years ago. I bought inertia reel belt kits (new) from Transend, and my local specialist fitted them. I think he had to put strengthening plates on the engine bay side of the rear bulkhead for the top mountings but it's all under the sound deadening pad so you don't see them. The reels fitted under the rear shelf and the finished job looked like original fitment.

Dont know how much help it will be but is the one I remember reading.

Article printed off, and ready to unscrew my rear shelf to investigate the provision (or lack of) of required fixing points. Here's hoping there are some so finally the whole family can, for the first time go out in my P & J.

I think this may be my only option as I found no obvious mounting points, although the sound deadening under the parcel shelf had pre-cut sections that lifted out where the mounts would go - revealing the top of the bulkhead and a circular hole (with no captive fixing nut under it). Does the shoulder seat belt mount require one or two fixing bolts?
