Porsche 'big reds' calipers Q
Discussion
Hi Guys, my first post on the porsche forum, anyway down to the nitty-gritty stuff lol, where is the best place to get used good condition porsche/brembo 'Big Reds' front calipers from, for a decent price?
For the unaware which included me up until 2 days ago, these calipers are most commonly found on the 993TT/RS/C4S.
Where do people who upgrade there brakes go to get all the work done etc, as they might keep them as part of the deal?
Any help/links appreciated.
Cheers
Steve

Hello Steve, try this , although I`m not sure if it will help you, no web site but a phone number and an email address.
01869 349955 phone , e-mail,- geoffjeal@cs.com . Jeal&Sons ( Performance engineering) used to carry an ad in EVO with a pic of "big reds" and a line stating "Bi-Turbo brakes for all cars"
Hope this helps, good luck

This link althought 968 specific should help in terms of the 'big' options available.

Steve,
I had a long chat with Jez Parsons of Carrera Performance at the Brands Festival back in August (he did the tech workshop) and they seem to do a lot of big red upgrades so it might be worth a phone call. They are in Horsham in Sussex on 01408 891911 or on the web at www.carreraperformance.com.
Hope that helps.
Regards
Dave
PS. I just tried the web link and it doesn't seem to go anywhere useful. I'd try the phone though.

Why not buy Big Blacks from the 928GTS and get them painted if you really must have red. They are the exact same calliper only they are black. www.promaxmotorsport.co.uk sell the callipers, disks, pads, brake lines for £899 fully inclusive

Steve, you are aware that the rotors are different too ??
cheers, Maurice
I wasn't aware they were different for the big reds no, i thought they all used the 322 x 32?
The calipers wont be going on any german automotive so the discs doesnt bother me that much, id love a Porsche, but would not be practical, so the best i can do is borrow the best parts from them

Yeah, i was aware that the 928gts had the same calipers but in black, the colour doesnt bother me at all, the only thing i was concerned about was the fact for my application i would have to reassemble them due to their mounting location, which means more work and cost.
I dont want to spend more than £450, which includes calipers, discs, pads and stainless brake lines. Remember these arent going on to a Porsche

Thanks guys, already sent an email to Douglas Valley and tried sending an email to geoffjeal@cs.com but didnt work. I have now posted a wanted add in the classifieds so hopefully i will find a set soon ![]()
Thanks for all the help.
I suspect the e-mail didn`t work because I gave you the incorrect address...try this ..geoffjeales3@cs.com..
Good luck
I went through the big red upgrade on my 930 (1987)
Basically alot of agro - at the time I had to get the rotors change and the calipers machined to fit my car. And then the next problem was brake balance - effectively the car became over braked - instant lock ups - eventually did away with the brake servo and had a front/rear bias valve fitted

(not mine)
These should be the same as the M030 968 ClubSport spec.

You're right - these are not big reds but are the ones on late 944 turbo's, 928 S4 & 968CS. Guess it depends what you're using them for - there's also some GT3 mk1 calipers on ebay - way bigger than the original 'big reds'.
I already have the bracket to fit 'big reds' to my car, so it has to be them really.
