I always go with GTechniq. Great product which has always worked for me

Confused by this because one isn't a replacement for the other. A ceramic coat isn't going to provide a physical protection barrier that the PPF gives.

Question is really

One, or other, or neither

Don’t want to spend 4k combined

I would do PPF and a consumer applied ceramic coat... but that's because I'm reasonably OCD and stone chips would drive me mad.

PPF. You can do the ceramic coating yourself. Dead easy.

Agreed, PPF. Pick up a Griots 3 in 1 ceramic spray and it's easily done. The Gtechniq is a UK product and well received but pricey by comparison.

As said, PPF then ceramic yourself, also id find another PPF installer as having seen some of their recent work, its not like their old work.
