Hi all,

I look to have a bit of a leak on both my front dampers as per the pics below. Car is a 718 GT4 and is only just over 4 years old with 15k on the clock. Has anybody else had similar and had luck getting this covered under warranty? The extended Porsche warranty does state that they don’t cover dampers as a result of wear and tear however surely they would be expected to last longer than this?

That has clearly failed, rather than “wear and tear”.

I’d speak with your OPC first, if that fails there is always the ombudsman.

Doubt you will get any joy from Porsche. My GT3 dampers lasted less than 20k miles (996.2).

Hmm, that was what I was worried about. Any ideas as to how much something like this would typically cost labour wise at an Indy?

Does seem strange that it’s so early and on both sides.

Also how old were they at that point?

So if they are not covered… can you fit anything you like then?!

Asking for a friend… wink

Porsche sell the units (inc top mounts springs etc) for about £1k a side inc vat and after pcgb discount.

Cheaper than a new PASM mount!

At least the PASM mounts are covered under warranty though!

Any ideas on the typical book time for fitting?

It depends if you need a loaner.... Reading is about 3 months if you require a loan car. Much quicker if you don't.

Surely two front units should be in and out in a day? I’ve replaced mine quicker than that.

Take it to Center Gravity and get a perfect geo thrown in.

I have a go at warranty cover. 15k miles on a fairly new car cannot reasonably be classed as wear and tear. It's premature failure.

Sorry I meant how much labour (or how many hours) should I expect them to charge.

That had been the plan before this and will be the plan once they are sorted!
