Was there last weekend for the Roar Before the 24.some cool cars getting their kinks ironed out.

Cost for the whole day about £12 ….full access to the pit lane, garages etc…bargain apart from getting stung for £8 for a cup of coffee..

Not a Porsche driver myself, but watched the last 4 hours. Fantastic race in all classes, I thought those GTD Pro lads were going to get out and have a fight, it was almost BTCC levels of swapping paint! Great way to kick off the countdown to Le Mans

Very nearly a Porsche 1-2. (1-3 in the end)

And incredible that, after 24 hours and some 2,800 miles of racing, the winning margin was only 1.3 seconds.

And, great performances from a lot of British drivers.

Lot of respect for Endurance racing at this level - well done Porsche.

Campbell in car 6 held up the Acura long enough .... but it was amazing to see once passed how quickly the Acura pulled away from Campbell ... with too little time to steal the win (if he could !!)

Yes, Tandy has now won all of the major 24 hour races

Lauren’s Vanthoor just needs to add Le Mans to get there

Big congrats to Nick, what a result 4 of the 24 wins.
Its a fantastic circuit to race on,coming off turn4 down the so called straight away into a 2nd gear corner is a experience to savour, did you see the mazda support race start carnage, just shows how easy it can all go wrong.
Brilliant result for the Britssmile

I've only driven Spa and Silverstone ... not 24 hours !!

But I have very fond memories of a young Nick Tandy showing me how to drive my Cayman R in the wet at Oulton Park when I was starting to up my skills for racing in the Porsche Club Championship. I was supposed to be with Sean Edwards for the morning but Sean was racing in the USA and Nick stood-in for him !

I had had some interesting experiences with Sean Edwards at Spa and those made for interesting stories shared at lunchtime ... Nick is very good in the wet and he gave me an understanding and a confidence to really get heat into the tyres in a risk controlled way whilst managing the competition ... a day never to be forgotten particularly because my friend who shared the day (took the afternoon) crashed at Old Hall when his ABS checked out. Nick's comment after asking of he was OK ? Don't worry you'll have a lot more of those in your racing career.

It's all a bit easier when you aren't paying for the car, but you can't take anything away from Mr Tandy ... Mega result.

On another aspect - what makes a great racing driver? Genes, or total focus/training/karting from a young age?

Blomkvist Snr is one of my driver-heroes, and Tom clearly has circuit skills.

Though I have to say, for Stig/Mrs Stig to choose 'Tom' as a forename is a bit... ordinary hehe
