Hi all,

Our Taycan is on Contract Hire with Porsche/VWFS, we are hoping to extend the lease for another 12 months as like-for-like replacement is eye watering by comparison.

We will only extend the lease providing we can extend the manufacturers warranty, however local OPC are saying this cannot be done as the V5 is in the name of VWFS. The car is a company car paid for by our Ltd co.

Does anyone have experience with this? It doesn't quite add up to me.

Thanks in advance.

The Porsche Warranty is on the car not the owner - as the cars can be sold with warranty.

I've both sold cars with extended Porsche Warranty, and bought cars with extended Porsche warranty (and then extended it further).

Unless the owner being VWFS makes a difference (but shouldn't do, as VWFS underwrite all the VW family brands)

The warranty does indeed go with the car - but can only be transferred (and possibly extended) between private buyers/individuals. It could be this that's caused the hiccup?

Thanks both for your replies.

My OPC called on Friday to advise they had looked into it some more, and they had incorrectly informed me. We can put a warranty on the car and the V5 isn’t required.

I thought it was strange as I have never been asked for a V5 when putting an extended warranty on any other cars, including our current Land Rover. Simply pay to have it inspected, pay the warranty and good to go.

Hopefully this may help others, I will update once warranty is active and lease has been extended.

I didn't think it needed to be inspected as long as the warranty hadn't lapsed already?

Correct, no inspection needed this time.

Nice, result.

I think loads of people will be doing the same if they can. The jump in price to something a couple of years newer is just getting insane on many cars now.
