Bit of a long story but I am importing a 997 from the UK to EU, the car has EU homologation on the paperwork but the VIN/door sticker is in Arabic.
It looks like the car was going to be for the UAE market but in the end imported to Gibraltar and stayed there for years before being stored in the UK.

To register it in the EU I need an EU door sticker as the Arabic text wont be recognised.

Does anyone know how to obtain one of these? The VIN etc is fine, I just need it to be in UK/EU text.

Might try a Porsche approved bodyshop as they will have a need to replace such stickers.

Suspect you might need the bodyshop to actually replace the sticker so there is traceability, not the sort of thing that will just be given out.

I had the stickers by the door strike replaced when the rear of the car was repainted, took about 8 weeks to get the stickers, assume they came from the factory.

I think I know this car. Was over 10 years ago I looked at it. Is it a black 4S?

You should be able to order the new sticker from your local OPC, you’ll most likely need your V5, passport, driving license, proof of address blah, blah, blah.

Not cheap, and it will either have to come from Reading or from Stuttgart.

IIRC the original sticker was a security item, look closely and you’ll see that it may have numerous fine cut lines in it, that preclude it being removed intact.

If you want to replace it yourself, take a picture of the new, replacement sticker on top/alongside the OPC invoice and receipt before applying it to the car, also make sure to take a picture of the old one intact on the car and keep the remains of the sticker you remove from the car.

Before removing the old sticker, mark its precise location with masking tape to ensure the new sticker is correctly located.

It is yes, still with the same owner but probably in a lot worse state than when you viewed it.

Thanks everyone.

I contacted my local Porsche centre who were unable to help but sent me the details for Porsche UK so I have messaged them too.
Any idea on what these could cost?

When my 996 was repainted the Porsche Approved Bodyshop obtained a replacement.

I have just contacted a Porsche approved body shop for some advice actually, hopefully get a reply from them this week.

I spoke to Porsche direct who were a bit clueless but I presume it was an admin employee I spoke to so they asked me to email their generic email address and it will be assigned to the correct department.

Standard operating procedure, they are so thick they had to check if a car being returned by an OPC to a customer with no brakes was a problem.

I was in touch recently with Porsche GB Ltd and they were very helpful - the email looks odd, but this is their 'customer relations' team.

The current one is similar to that, I need one from a UK/EU car so I can get one made but with my VIN, similar to this but this appears to be US:

If anyone has a 997 and doesn't mind sending me a pic of this sticker (you can hide the VIN of course) please let me know, once i know what text is on it I can get one made.

Are you sure as I have seen plenty of UK cars with them?

Quick look on eBay found this car where you can see the sticker too:

Couple of years ago I managed to shut my seat belt buckle in the door, which gouged the paint around the latch in the door frame and also that VIN sticker. It didn't even occur to me that you could get it replaced but last year I took the car in for some age related cosmetic paintwork and asked if the gouge could be repaired and the guy asked, "would you like us to replace the VIN sticker too". He said he'd got it from Porsche but I don't know where exactly but he also replaced the clear protective sticker pads on the rear arches so I just assumed it was the local OPC????
