Porsche has patented a six-stroke internal combustion engine design.
It uses a special crankshaft to create extra compression and power strokes per cycle.

Cool. Only read the article not the tech, but sounds like another way of doing what was done with steam engines (secondary lower compression bit after the main event), and I think it was maybe Ilmor or Judd that had the same idea a few years back with the 3cyl engine that was 2 normal high pressure cylinders and a 3rd larger but lower compression one.

Whether it becomes a commercial thing or not, great to see development in this area. Would also love to hear how it sounds, presumably like nothing we’ve heard before?

An excellent video.

You've got to assume that Porsche has built one or some. It would be great to see it running.
I wonder what it sounds like.
Managing the firing sequence with two powers of strokes will be interesting.
That gear mechanism has to be a problem for wear and maintenance.
