Hit a pot hole & picked up a front N/S puncture in my CGTS yesterday!

Does anyone know what the tolerance is for N-rated tyre depth as the new tyre will be a 6mm but what can the other side be at before they say both need replacing?

Pirelli P Zero are fitted currently. Won't be looking to swap all 4 as the tread depth is decent on the other tyres.

Question is, can I use a mobile fitter or does the car need to go back to OPC? Porsche Assist did give me the option of going to another garage but nowhere was open yesterday. Presuming I'll need a new TPMS valve too; so does it need to be coded in via PIWIS?

I think that the maximum difference in tread depth across the same axle is 30% i.e if it is 6 mm on one side then anything below 4mm is a problem.

I had a puncture a few weeks ago on my Macan and used a local reputable tyre fitter and they did a fine job - no problem with wheel damage etc. TPMS was no problem - no coding needed and worked fine.No valve replacement was required as far as I am aware.

My new Michelins were 7-8mm.

It depends on what you'd call decent tread on the other tyre on the same axle? If you're at 3-4mm on the none damaged one then I'd probably get both replaced and sell the other 2 on ebay.

You don't need to replace the TPMS sensor.

Thanks all for the info. Will be speaking to OPC's tomorrow. Bracing the wallet!

If I have to switch both fronts then I might go for a full set of Goodyear Eagle F1, used them on my 987 & was happy with them.

But they are advertised now as run-flat tyres on 981 so if anyone has experience then I'd love to hear!

Don't put run flats on, they will be horrible.

Just order a pair from Camskill, get a local tyre place to fit them.

Don't even involve OPC.

Why would you?

Agree ..some people even take their car to a OPC for a MOT

The valves are fitted to the rims not the tyres and so don’t need replacing when you replace a tyre btw

Not sure why you think you need to involve an OPC to change a tyre, you don't, a mobile fitter will be fine.

Are you sure the puncture can't just be fixed?

No diff so couldn't you just change the front tyre and see if you notice any difference?

This. Never changed a pair of fronts unnecessarily on any car in 30 years of driving. It'll make little to no difference other than your wallet will be lighter
