UNBELIEVABLE - 5 year old “New” tyres fitted to a 992
Discussion
Asking for a friend who has just had 2 new Goodyear tyres fitted to his 992, paid for in full at full Porsche OPC cost, by an OPC. Both tyres have a DOT of 10/19 which makes them 5 years old.
What should that friend do? Does anyone think that this is remotely acceptable from an OPC?
Guidance please I can pass on for my friend - thank you

I recently bought a low mileage 2018 car from an OPC with 2018 tyres and as part of their approved "Used" they fitted a new set. I was very happy with the car as delivered ... and possibly they did me a favour.
I also would be unhappy and ask the dealer about 2019 tyres being fitted in 2023/4 ... it would be easier for all if they volunteered to "correct" the problem.

Unbelievable!
No way should an OPC be fitting tyres of that age.
Even their used car policy states more than 3mm and less than 5 years.
Definitely go back and request replacements, heck I use black circles for my Porsches and all tyres have been current year or previous year at worst if early in the year when fitted.

@HOTRODS1974 I am away currently so can't dig out my Porsche used car documents.

The 111 point check requirement for tyres states a maximum of 5 yrs old based on the DOT date.
The OPC that supplied me my used 718s had noted perished tyre older than 5yrs on the check form but forgot to replace them.
I noticed when I got home, and they agreed to replace all of them FOC.
It would not matter if they were brand new, the OPC or another buyer will reduce the amount they would pay for your car if the tyres are out of date or approaching out of date ash they would argue the 5yr rule.
So get it back to them to get new rubber

Jurassic GTS - thank you. Would you have evidence of this in their approved used standards please ? I agree with you but can’t find where it says so.
Also says porsche N rated tyres shouldn’t be used when six years old or greater so they’ve sold me tyres with a one year shelf life.
They sold some to you AND your friend? Also says porsche N rated tyres shouldn’t be used when six years old or greater so they’ve sold me tyres with a one year shelf life.

Anyone purchasing tyres from Black Circles may want to check the date of manafacture before fitting .
I had a run in with them regarding a purchase for my Aston , 4 year old iirc.
Most tyres have defined generations and iterations. So if you bought a previous model of tyre hoping to save a few quid then yeah it'll be older...I had a run in with them regarding a purchase for my Aston , 4 year old iirc.

dealers are permitted to keep tyres on the shelf for 5years, if stored correctly, and the another 5 fitted to the car.
i'm surprised the dealer didn't know that?
That might be the case, i'm surprised the dealer didn't know that?
However, if you were to buy a car with tyres that are 7yrs old according to the DOT mould, but the seller said they had only been on the car for a couple of years, would you be satisfied? Or would you use that as leverage to negotiate a discount.
Would the dealer taking the car in as a trade in knock your px price down
I bet you / they would

I think the OP said they were fitted new? If so, if stored correctly, it's agreed that they can still sell up to 5 years. However, if you were to buy a car with tyres that are 7yrs old according to the DOT mould, but the seller said they had only been on the car for a couple of years, would you be satisfied? (we can't just throw away tyres that are 5 year old, stored correctly, and never used)
But I'm also sure that on a trade in, a good valuer would be looking for things like that, and would happily knock them down.
If the Op has it sorted, and a new set of tyres, that's great for him, nice to get something from a main dealer that feels like good service, all up for that.
I am trying to find the legal gumph for tyres, as the company i work for have to be very careful how they are stored, as tyres are slow movers for us

Porsche are not allowed to let any tyres they fit or any Approved use car with the 111 point test go where DOT IS 5 years or more. Simple. So any used car they tyres need replaced. It is in their checklist.
Porsche themselves forbid it. Forget the legal position.
Was told that all the QC tests failed in my case. Dealers would never ever hold tyres over 5 years. No garage would as I phoned many today!!
