30-40k budget: Cayman R or 997.2 C2S
Discussion
Hi there
As same money can now get you into a 987.2 Cayman R or a 997.2 Carrera S is there a particular preference on which one is better and why, rear seats aside is there any other major reason to buy the 911 over the Cayman?
A little background info I have owned a 997.1 Carrera S, 987.2 Spyder and 991.1 GT3 in the past, I never keep cars too long as I enjoy trying different things.
I'd probably also be more inclined to go for a PDK as I own several manual cars (GR, R8 and 360), as such is the PDK the same in both the CR and 997.2 apart from that be great to hear from anyone who has maybe owned both.

If you dont plan to keep it long I'd go for the CR, much more of an event , however I've no experience of the 'auto' version, I suppose it depends on how much interaction you're after.
Both will probably hold value well, the CR will be harder to find if you've got a specific spec in mind.

Its a tricky one. You can get an older / higher mileage 997.2, or a better CR. CR may be the best best for you ( and I am very biased), and hopefully younger/less mileage, but I would personally get a manual CR and swap another car if you want a manual/auto spread in your collection. However, to get a decent manual 987 CR with the right options will be over your advertised limit.

Given you've had both a 997 and a 987 Spyder, you probably have a better view on this than anyone (PDK question aside)!
Good point, from memory the 911 had far more mechanical grip, the spyder was a lot more willing to play as in drift. If there's two of you in car doing some touring those back seats in a 911 are so handy for just chucking stuff in that you need to get at easily. When I had my CR I was glad I was solo driving 99% of the time
