I was 20 when i bought my first convertible, an MG Midget. Now 40 years later I am still have a mid life crisis, an MX5 now. Had it said to me plenty of times but mostly by blokes driving people carriers cause that's what the told them is sensible.

Bought my 986S just before my 43rd . . . so this figures!

Ignores the fact that I've been obsessed with Porsches since I was knee-high to a grasshopper though. If pesky houses, kids, dogs etc. hadn't got in the way I'd have bought one a lot sooner.

I see the MX5 is way down at 17. Which makes sense as I first had that midlife crisis aged 25.

Wish it was mid life, got my 911 GTS just under 2 years ago , age 67 , always wanted one, but couldn’t justify the funds before.

I've been in a midlife crisis since I was 12. I still like the same things (Porsches, Harley Davidsons, guitars).

I am ok with that.

Well that's a stroke of luck at least I haven't got a tiny penis and a hair salon.

Will take that with a pinch of salt. Got told I had a mid-life crisis when I was 19 when I started riding motorbikes lol

I've got three. Does that elevate me from crisis to emergency, like the climate?

What if you've owned once since you were young and decades later, still owning one, somebody concludes that you are having a midlife crisis? It's all rather confusing.

I've just bought my first Porsche, a Cayman, and I'm far too old for it to be considered a mid-life crisis car.

My 50 year old mate with the Racing Yellow Boxster -

I'm not so sure!

There's some truth to it, although my guess is that most people wait until later in life for financial reasons.
If you could have afforded a Porsche at 20, then you'd have bought one.

The thing that rubs me the wrong way about the article is the cliché about buying a Boxster because you can't afford a 911. Everyone knows the only convertible Porsche should be a Boxster.

Coming at number 17, golf GTI???

If you buy a Golf GTI because you’re having a mid-life crisis, then you really ARE having a midlife crisis.
