F-Type R to 718 Cayman GTS
Discussion
Hi All,
Probably the Porsche forum is the wrong place to ask for an unbiased opinion, but I'm considering changing my Jag F-type R to a Cayman GTS (manual gearbox).
My F-Type is a 2017 convertible and would possibly be considering a 718 Cayman GTS.
Has anyone else made the same change?
Was it worth it? What did you miss about the F-Type, or was there no regrets?
Matt

Not done it exactly but have certainly driven both at length. You will get a lot more road noise in the Cayman. Which may or may not be a concern if you are doing long journeys, I found the Cayman very loud indeed and on the concrete sections of the M25, close to unbearable. Less of an issue on smoothly surfaced European tarmac of course. I also think the Porsche F6 is very overrated, certainly compared to a pre gpf V8 is not in the same league and the gearing is a little bit too long for a sports car.
That said the mid engined handling of the Porsche is unreal, the f type is closer to a GT in comparison. With prices coming down fast now you may find it worth holding off until Jan/Feb unless cost is of little concern.
Cayman likely to be a lot more reliable too, and the Porsche official warranty is usually pretty good.
