OPC Sold GT3 with 1 tyre not N rated, 111 point check is $%%
Discussion
Hi
OPC sold 991.1 GT3 with 1 rear tyre not N rated. So annoying. Came up with BS that N rating can be on inside of tyre.
Will replace tyre but other side is on 6mm so under load I don't think they will work the same, thoughts?
Porsche match if there is 3mm difference.
111 point check only works on your trade in as a why to get price down it appears.

Looks like the penny pinching is starting.
From my experience the opc I use will only put N rated tyres on a porsche and they will definitely not put a plug in one!
I bought an insurance policy once for tyres and they asked at the time if the tyres were to be N rated due to it being a new porsche. The policy obviously went up in price!

Funnily enough I just had my GT3 serviced at my OPC after collecting from a different OPC in May and all four brake caliper nipples are seized on the inside.
Two of the plastic wheel liners are goosed too.
111 point check doesn’t check for this either apparently.
I found that the two inner rear nipples were seized, just 3 months after I bought my 981 GTS. It had been serviced, c/w a brake fluid flush the day before I collected the car. The master tech I spoke t at the OPC who sold me the car said they onlt blled about 10cc from each caliper. I pointed out that that doesnt really change the fluid as most is still in the brake pistons. Two of the plastic wheel liners are goosed too.

Anyway, I eventually got 2 brand new calipers off them. Makes me very wary of having it's 8 year service done by an OPC next year, just to keep its fabled full OPC service record.

Interesting thanks for this. I’ve let them know I’m not happy and waiting to hear back from the supplying OPC. Anyway, I eventually got 2 brand new calipers off them. Makes me very wary of having it's 8 year service done by an OPC next year, just to keep its fabled full OPC service record.
I’m not paying for 4 new calipers that’s for sure. It is worse case but still, I’m a bit disappointed as I have no doubt it will be used against me if I try and trade it in.

Probably just a sloppy check done by a tech and the sales bod won't bother looking for themselves. Just speak to them nicely and they should sort it out.OPC sold 991.1 GT3 with 1 rear tyre not N rated. So annoying. Came up with BS that N rating can be on inside of tyre.

Re the tyre with a plug in it ...... Unless it was really obvious or the owner failed to mention it , how would anyone know ?

They must have been struggling with the £10k margin they had to work with!
I only think this needs raising because of their militant approach to extended warranties. Otherwise its silly to even raise it. But this comment sums it up, its astounding that these polished Arthur Daleys get away with it. Here come the fanboys to wax lyrical about expensive showrooms and salaries etc but before you do, think about it, £10k and you cant abide by your own rules?
Bring on the recession/debt crash, I cant wait for the odd charlatan to be brought down a peg or two.

Bang right it does I got conned into a full set of tyres on a GT3 in order to have the warranty due to funnily enough having the wrong N rating tyres. How the tyres have any impact on warranting a car who knows. What I do know is that Porsche dealers have very expensive premises and lots of staff to pay for. Here come the fanboys to wax lyrical about expensive showrooms and salaries etc but before you do, think about it, £10k and you cant abide by your own rules?

Surely a 991.1 GT3 should have Cup 2 tyres?
When I replaced the rear tyres on my long gone 996 (Michelin PS2 N3) i checked the tread depth before they went on the car. The outer tread depth was 7mm and the inner 6mm so there was a stagger (correct word?) across the tyres. I had always thought that new tyres came with 8mm.
Doesn't a Cup tyre come with less than that?

They snapped a bleed nipple on my 8yr service so that added over £700 for a new caliper to the already expensive service so be prepared...I’m not paying for 4 new calipers that’s for sure. Which any junior mechanic with 6 months experience could drill and helicoil in an hour. Crooks, and as wallets are squeezed, they'll hopefully be held to account more. ImbackYo said:
