I had my car wrapped in vinyl film dark metallic blue (Avery Dennison) over white about 3 years ago. Local wrapper in Hillingdon, they did a good job £2.5k
Blue over white is not great as, once it gets sut you can see the white coming through so I had a ppf done over the wrap on the front. I track and hill climb my car.
From a distance looks good, close up you can see the odd fault and, of course, it looked great on day one and now it looks less great - 15k miles on.
I expect I will wrap it again this year, probably silver.
Good paint protection and cheaper than a proper respray. I have read mixed things about the peelable spray on by Topaz. Seen one car (a GT3 RS) in the flesh though and it looked super, albeit at a very high price.

I purchased a 981CS which was wrapped. That’s obviously a cardinal rule break, but as always, you ‘buy the seller’, who was a clear petrolhead with plenty of other nice cars which he clearly cared for. I was right to trust myself in this instance.
When wrapped, it was a 5 year old garage queen with 11k on it. It was detailed and ceramic coated a few months prior to that.
The wrap was very well done, including door shuts etc. you’d be very hard-pressed to know it was there. What I didn’t like about it, was that when you get a chip or imperfection in the wrap, you’re stuck with it. Once I got a few stone chips, I decided to remove the wrap. It had been on for 4 years and about 11 thousand miles. It came off nicely.
The best thing about it was that it had protected the paint for those 4 years. A 9 year old car looked quite literally brand new.
Would I wrap it again? Not sure, probably not - but then I like the car’s colour. I like having my car detailed, waxed etc, and keeping on top of blemishes, which you can’t do with a wrap.

I've been considering wrapping my dull as dishwater black turbo S. Hate black, but they only seem to come is this colour :-) . However the rear bumper has has some paint touchup at somepoint with the previous owner, and I feel it will pull that off when removed. Plus wraps not not cheap!. I've considered a full respray as well, but future buyers seems to be put off by a change of colour..
It probably would pull some lacquer off when it came off. It did on mine in a small spot. No issue to sort, though.
Pretty easy/cheap to sort beforehand, too?
Mine is basalt metallic. It looks wonderful under the sun. I love it for 10 minutes at a time after a wash
I’ve considered a colour change - it doesn’t really bother me about the next buyer, but yes - it does seem to put some people off.
