Which Ctek for GT3 991.2
Discussion
I use my CTEK via the 12v socket in the passenger footwell and it works perfectly. You can close the door without damaging the cable.
Ignore any comments about cheap sockets and bell wire. The 12v accessory sockets are rated at 20amps and are therefore wired and fused appropriately. The maximum output of a MXS 5.0 is 5 amps.

Why not put the lead you get free with it on the battery, all OPC do it correctly, I don’t get the need to do it via a 12v socket anyway. Ignore any comments about cheap sockets and bell wire. Also the lead has lights, so you know when it needs charging.

The ‘comfort lead’ you get when you buy a normal MXS 5.0 or 7.0 does not have lights to show when it needs charging. That is an optional accessory.
I personally DID connect the supplied ‘comfort connect’ lead to my battery and earthing post when I got the charger. But I never use it, as it’s not the most convenient method, and certainly on my car you cannot fully close the bonnet with the charger connected without nipping the cable.

Because opening the passenger door, plugging in the charger, fully closing the door and then locking the car is by far the quickest and most convenient way to do it.

Thanks a lot guys, will get one sorted out.Cheers.
Of you connect to the battery which I always do connect the earth to the chassis not the - post on battery on 991 gen and newer. It’s something to do with the car’s way of monitoring battery management. It’s been covered in here before. Edited by David W. on Monday 12th October 08:39

Bit of a thread resurrection but can anyone advise which setting I should be using on the MXS 5.0 for a 991.2 GT3?
There is the normal car battery program or an AGM option…
Thanks in advance!
Page 4 of the instruction manual says Normal Battery Program "suitable for WET batteries, Ca/Ca, MF, GEL batteries and many AGM batteries"There is the normal car battery program or an AGM option…

Whereas the AGM section mentions it's for 'most AGM batteries like Optima & Odyssey'.
Like you, I wondered which option to use on my 981 CGTS which is AGM. I got different answers depending who I asked, including a reputable Indy.
Even contacted cTEK customer support, but they advised to contact the OEM.
Page 5 explains the differences between the charge types.
