Paintwork - poor respray - advice please

Hi, I'm looking for some advice.

I've recently had some work done at an OPC with regard to a respray of the bonnet.

Unfortunately, I can see swirl marks on the bonnet, these are visible in the garage under their lights in the workshop and in sunlight.

I took it back to the OPC and their paint shop have tried to polish them out, yet I can still see them. The OPC are now going to speak to the paint shop again. The cost of the respray was not insignificant and I did not expect swirl marks. The car was detailed late 2016, so I know what good paintwork should look like.

What can I expect from the OPC to resolve?

I find that most paintshops finish paint this way and think its acceptable. You will probably find that the paint work may well be ok but they've just flat polished it and thats as far as they go. You really need a detailer to go that bit further with refinement and it will probably come up ok.

I always use SL Restoration for all my paintwork now as they are the best and know what refinement is needed to send a car out completed properly

The result of careless, slapdash machine polishing with coarse cutting compound and a hard/clogged pad most likely.
Tell them to polish it properly with a softer pad and a finer grade of cutting compound/polish such as those found in the 3M Perfect It range :

Every bodyshop has it (or its equivalent), so either someone couldn't be bothered to go the extra mile, or find the bottle/softer pad.

Demand to see the bodyshop manager and tell the useless st to get it sorted properly, to your total satisfaction or you'll get it sorted by a detailer and present then with the bill, which you'll expect them to pay. Oh, and tell them that as a recommended Porsche paint shop you'll notify Porsche GB their work is substandard....

I found SL to be significantly more expensive than the other workshops I approached and with lots of "extras" to pad out the price. One such item was a "diagnostic check" - pretty sure I'd diagnosed there was damage to my car when I got driven in to, but there you go.

Plenty of places nearby. Impact Bodywork - affiliated with Precision Porsche in Sussex - seem to have a following, Parr have bodywork partners, as do 9-Excellence (I believe) and independent places like Washington Coachworks are also in this space, having done a lot of work on Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche.
