"too close" Alarms in traffic

Driving my wife's Macan, which has all-round parking sensors/camera (no comment on previous kerbings..)

In traffic, it keeps bleeping warnings at me when other cars are close by or buses in other lane etc.
Can this be turned off?

That's actually the PPPWS and it can't be disengaged - stands for the Porsche Proletariat Proximity Warning System.

Ha ha. It can be disengaged, cant remember exactly where but its might be vehicle, proximity sensor.

There's a switch in the roof console - the one with the P and a sound wave icon on it.

Pope (or others) - is it possible to fully disable the lane departure warning system (the little beeps when you go over dotted lines)? I have mine on "late" and "low" but couldn't see an option to turn it off.

Came across this on a rental Golf last year. The most irritating driver aid I've seen in a long time. In a city centre it's a giant PITA. Pulled over and spent 5 mins rooting through the onboard displays before I found out how to turn the bloody thing off.

Had this a few times when out in the Porsche...even from people driving very new and expensive cars.

LdW switch is on the centre console; bottom right - the icon on the button is the same as the one in the cluster display

Not so much alarms, but temperature. Rental in Seattle, air temp reading in fahrenheit, so thought sod this, I'll fiddle and try to change it to Celsius.

I managed it and was momentarily stumped why my speed increased from 40 to nearly 60

Turns out the speedo had one numerical scale only, i.e, not MPH and KPH, but just one, but in the middle of the speedo was a little read out which said either MPH or KPH.

As I changed from fahrenheit to celcius, the read out changed from MPH to KPH, hence increase from 40 to 60.

Can do that on my VXR8 vipers. Great for driving on the continent. But yeah it does a system change between metric and imperial.

Could also be a faulty parking sensor or simply dirt on one.
