Hi Guys,

I have Porsche Vehicle Tracking System (PVTS) and I tried to activate it with Vodafone (formerly cobra) it needs a hard reset for it to work as there are activation issues. However, OPC advised that due to the PVTS system in the cayman being located under one of the seats, its a long job to take it out and hard reset it - and will cost a proportionate amount of money to the time required (i.e. a lot).

I wonder if anyone knows an easy, DIY way to hard reset it?

Thanks
Sunny

and if the module is kaput, you can expect to shell out 3700 for a new one. And they do fail.

But yes, you'll need to remove the driver side seat to get to it.

Do you really need it?

No. I am insured without it, its just that I had a bad experience with a near hijacking situation last year with my BMW M5 (managed to fend them off luckily), but if I'm not so lucky next time, at least I can get my car back (it has a lot of options on it, and that was reflected in the price I had to pay for it 2nd hand). I'm just scared that if such a situation arises where my car is taken, the insurance company will only give me book price of a basic car and not of my spec one.

...But my gosh, 3700?! that's expensive!

Hmm. Still on the expensive side, but certainly a lot more reasonable!!! (about the price of getting a different one fitted)
