Anyone, anyone?.... Okay, how about $8,495,000 then?

The only hypothetical question this begs, in my mind, is if I had the means and had to choose (see, you don't get much more hypothetical than that) would I have a 959 or a GT1....?
Without this car, arguably the Mezger engine may never have been developed in the way it has been and so we wouldn't have Turbo, GT2 or even the GT3 911 as we know them. But then the turbo itself owes much to the 959...

...but the 959 was my poster car!
Yep, I had a framed picture of a red 959 on my bedroom wall as a teenager too. Then, a few years later at college, a bunch of us (me, the now Mrs Digga and three others) lived in a huge old Victorian student house in Manchester. A fe of the bedrooms were huge and me and a mate build an enormous Scalextric set in his room, which we idled away hours endurance racing, him with a Ferrari 288 GTO and me with a Porsche 959.
I dug the 959 out from the attic when I bought my 996 turbo, because it was the rear 'gills' that really linked the styling and hooked me on the looks of the car.
Ha ha! Boy and toys - they just get bigger and more expensive.
IIRC, the 959 was 444hp, so a Turbo S is very similar. My Turbo has had a very modest Chipwizards DMS remap to 502hp. I think the 3.6 and newer turbos in the 996 Turbos gives a much 'meatier', torquier driving experience, but in a 959, well, you're in a 959! In it's day one of the ultimates and still a rare and beautiful beast today. A GT1 though, that's next level.
