Macan, drop the options?

I,ve had my extended demo Macan for 3 months now, but getting my 991 back today. I,ve put a deposit on a DS, so well done Porsche. But the longer I,ve had it and after trying aGts also, I realise many of the expensive options you don't need. Especially if for me it's a proper daily driver, I'm sticking with 21', comfort seats, heated seat and wheel, black detailing and met black paint, + navigation obviously, everything else I see as pointless, and what a bargain of a car when you do that. It will still look great and do everts so well.
By the way comparing GTS with DS an obvious difference in power but no where near much as I would have hoped. Having considered moving my deposit to a GTS, I'm sticking with a DS, l love the low down power and 32mpg plays 22mpg!

Options are a personal choice. Some do improve the car, others are frippery.

Some people will say you don't get the cost back at re-sale, but you should still spec the car you will most enjoy especially if you plan on keeping it for several years, and some options are still very desirable at trade in time. I would definitely want Air suspension on a new or used Macan, especially with 21" wheels.

I think a general punter cares not for the type of suspension. The Macan is not an enthusiast's car, it is a family wagon. Stuff like Sport Chrono is likely a waste of time, and i think more 'traditional' options you'd see on any car (i.e. big wheels, leather, heated seats, decent stereo, luggage net(!)) will impress the next purchaser over torque vectoring or deviated stitching.

However, if you keep the car for a long time then treat yourself. We have a Cayenne Diesel that has just about every option - it's effectively a Turbo but with the cancer-giving engine. But, we've had now for 5 years and it's done 90,000 miles. Like you, i found the diesel performance surprisingly good and - crucially - you can use it for the week without stopping at a fuel station.

I had to cut short a PEC day at Silverstone while a tyre was changed on the Macan Turbo we were using . We swapped into a Diesel while that was done and was amazed at how similar the lap times were . The diesel really does drag itself out of the corners. ( That said I'm now in a 440bhp Turbo PP :-)
