996 boot release not working well

The other night I went to fetch something from the car and the boot latch wouldn't release. Battery is charged and I heard the solenoid make noises. Just wouldn't release. Next day I tried again and it had fixed itself and opened... Well it clearly hasn't fixed itself but it did open, and the release somehow sounded 'harder' then usual, I could've imagined that of course.

Any known issues? Is something about to give?

Lube the mechanicals.

Mine went last month, have a look at the latch when the bonnet is open and if it looks like the release wire is frayed change it before it snaps otherwise it's a case of removing both wheel arch liners to find the manual release.
