Just bought a GT4 - detail? topaz? williams?

Just took the plunge - but don't want another "we think its a waste of money / we think its the best thing in the world" thread.

Looking for some advice as have heard a few things about paint protection.

Has anyone put there GT4 through Topaz and got PFF? Pictures or experiences be nice?

What do people make of this Ceramic Williams coating thing? Another dealer money maker that is applied by time constrained dealers without the skills on unprepared paint?

Treat me as if I am a child and have no clue - I wont be insulted by any feedback.

I had PPF but not by Topaz the Williams coating is not that good friend of mine had it on his Audi would not recommend it.

I have Topaz protection on the vulnerable areas of a GT4, arranged by my OPC pre-delivery.

Very pleased with the quality, but never bothered with it before, so no previous experience. Would never cover a whole car, but can see the point in certain areas.

Used it in motorsport on windscreens and definite advantages. Would like to use it in some aviation applications, but regulatory issues.

Yet to be convinced about 'self healing' claims for any of these products.

Topaz did ful PPF on my GT4. They seemed very professional and I'm happy with the result. They also did the carbon sills.

I've had a full PPF on my car from Auto-Protek in Ascot and am really happy with the result and would definitely recommend both PPF and Auto-Protek. There is a difference in the quality of the installers of PPF so you do need to do your homework if you want to go this route. They are not local to me and were recommended by a guy in Wales who has used them a few times and was very happy with their work.

Have also used Justin at Exclusive Car Care for G-Techniq and paint correction and have also found his work top notch as well. He does PPF and is based in the south west but I havent seen his PPF work so cannot comment on this side of Justin's business.

Very smart mate.

Only issue I have is Ive heard that the if you ever remove the wrap it can pull lacquer off..... and also dulls paint.

But Topaz invited me down to look around so may take them up on it.

I've seen a GT4 that had Xpel PPF applied by Wombat Wrapping. Superb finish.

My only concern is dulling of paint......

If I keep this detailed by professionals a few times a year should do the job!

You cannot detail over ppf.

I also don't get full car wraps. But the sills are the worse area on the GT4.
What spec did you go for, out of of interest what people are buying.

Topaz did a fabulous job on my RS; full PPF cover on top of a perfect detail. When it was sold with 6,700 miles accrued no remedial paintwork was required. All the work was completed at my OPC (Tewkesbury D.Lovett) prior to my collection. I was provided with stage photographs throughout the whole process which was much appreciated. Overall excellent service and quality work. I would highly recommend Topaz!

Nobody has ever told me my paint looks dull.

A car covered in PPF can't reach a level of shine like a show car that's been professionally detailed but it's not a million miles away. You can't "detail" PPF the traditional sense but you can look after it to maximise it's gloss. Keep it clean with regular washing. I use Carpro Reload on mine which makes it feel nice and slick and notecably improves the shine.

I know you cant detail over it.... I was talking about ongoing detailing. So rather than going for a Topaz wrap just accepting I will have to have it professionally detailed a few times a year.

I am going to pop to Topaz in a week or so and check out the wrapping for myself - they invited me down.

As I said the stories I have heard about wrapping in general - lacquar coming off if/when its removed and the paint being dulled as covered over!! In terms of maintenance I understand that you can spray over it and a whole lot cheaper in that instance than a proper detail.

What did you want to know about mine spec wise? Its in grey, ceramics, PSE & sports seats not buckets.

Does it actually work out as cost effective?
If not covered, some panel may need reprinting in the future, but is that really likely to cost more than the protection itself?
