Seen a nice car there, I've obviously got a lot of trust in the likes of RSJ, RPM Technik but have never ventured near this outfit.

Are Charles Ivey of similar character as those type of specialists?

A friend bought a Carrera 3.2 from them a few years ago.

I told him he must get an independent PPI before buying.

He didn't. To say 'he wished he had' is a massive understatement!

Perhaps he was unlucky. Perhaps he wasn't.

Charles Ivey has been in the game far longer than most. Was and maybe still is heavily involved with the Porsche club. As I would with any Porsche get a through pre purchase inspection done before you buy it unless you know what you are looking at.

sadly 'The 'charles Ivey has had nothing to do with this set up for many years ...............a name worth valuing , current people need to be judged as u find them

Just looking at their other stock/inventory I'd be suspicious. For a dealer who claims to have been "London's leading Porsche Specialist for 40 years" they've not done a very good job of riding that wave with only seven cars in stock.

I think I'll give them a miss in that case, as most top specialist get glowing reviews and these sound lukewarm at best!

That turbo looks lovely and atlas is a rare met grey. Maybe just get an inspection at an OPC and throw a warranty on it? Charles Ivey is very well known. Buy the car not the dealer.

Thanks - it seems Ivey only offer a 6 month mechanical failure warranty - which doesn't cover wear and tear.

As the car has PCCBs is it inexpensive to change them to steel brakes in the future?

Yes lots of steel options Alcon, Brembo, Giro Disc etc which are a direct replacement for ceramics.

turbo suits tip, pdk good but then you get the non mezger engine. Theres a a couple of nice ones in the classifieds.

Thanks - good to know as I turn over my cars fairly quickly so don't want something that is hard to move on. The only thing is I guess the PDK version does have more bhp/torque...

The quality and condition of the car is the important thing with cars at those ages.

I suspect that's because he's no longer alive!

The current owner was an apprentice with Ivey, donkeys years back and bought the place when CI retired. As for stock levels. It is only a tiny place, so not going to have 20 cars on display.

No connection to them other than I met the current owner of the place this year briefly. Didn't inspect his cars or anything.

Edit to add. He's actually moving to Surbiton in the next year or so. Something to do with the lease on the current place in Putney.

They have started to move in already. Quite a nice thing to have in Surbiton as that garage has been empty for years-was previous Met Police property.
