RMS Lead - IMS replacement?

Hi

My 2005 997.1 is leaking a small amount of oil from the lower drivers side of the engine.

Going into my trusted indy on Wednesday for a look, but interested in views in advance as to whether, if it is the dreaded RMS/IMS bearing then whether it's prudent to have the IMS upgraded at the same time?

(Apologies if I'm mixing up my IMS/RMS here - SO many internet chats I cant get a consistent picture in my head)

Anyway, car has oil inspected at every service and a magnetic sump plug and there's been no swarf at all for last 3 services if that's any indicator.

Planning on keeping car for a long time, so interested in views on replacement as a preventative measure in these circumstances.

If it's just an oil leak, then replace the faulty seal. I would leave the IMS bearing alone.

interesting, then this doesn't sound like RMS/IMS then

source is definitely off centre, close to the back right (from the rear) corner of the car

Yep, turns out to be this

Badly corroded as are associated vacuum lines

All in, £850 to repair which seems bit harsh but then again pump is £350 itself.

Could be the oil pressure sensor.

nope, its the tandem oil pump and associated vacuum pipes
