Question on V750 Certificate of Entitlement....

Recently bought a plate privately and my name has been added as nominee so I can transfer to a vehicle registered in my name. My question is, can one request change of grantee details to reflect that I am the new owner?

I'm pretty sure that historically this wasn't possible but curious if anything has changed? I'll call the DVLA tomorrow to clarify but thought I'd post the question just in case anyone has done this? Could take a while to find a suitable car for it.

Despite the relaxing of the process I don't believe this is the case. You can be added as a nominee but the original grantee will always be named on the V750. If however you transfer it onto your car, as the registered keeper you effectively take possession of the number. You can then apply to have it put on retention (V778) and will therefore become the new grantee.

Thank you. It's an odd system in that the named grantee still theoretically owns the plate even though I have purchased it.

I'll just have to get it transferred to a car.

I think it's the way it is because entitlement to a reg number alone doesn't exist. Once on a vehicle, you have entitlement to that plate and when it's in transit the true home is the vehicle it came from. That'll be why you can't change it?

RSL 911G doesn't really work very well on a GT4, Defender or BMW Estate but one of them is going to end up with it temporarily
