GT4 on Ferry/Eurotunnel

While waiting for my car to arrive, I am planning a summer Euro trip through the alps. Anybody have experience and advice on taking the GT4 on a Ferry (Hull/Zeebrugge) or Eurotunnel -concerned about access with that low lip spoiler?

Eurotunnel has been no problem for my 996 & 997 GT3s and gets my vote.

I'm taking my 997.1 Turbo on the Hull - Rotterdam ferry in May. I'll report back! Had no problems with my old man's V8V and plenty of pals have got silly Lotuses on the same crossing. Should be fine.

Ferries can be a problem, sometimes the loading ramps are too steep or don't provide the right approach angle. Eurotunnel is great, especially if you book a high/wide vehicle slot (this is now encouraged by Eurotunnel), I've had no problems at all with a GT2.

Book a "tall space" on the eurotunnel. The lanes are wider then the normal part of the train and you get unloaded quicker

...or use the car section of train and insist you are loaded on the lower level. Worked for my 996 GT3. Also used Britanny Ferries from Portsmouth to Le Havre without problem as loading ramps are very wide and long.

Wouldn't want to try a Cal Mac ferry in Scotland. My Land Rover just about managed them.

We've taken various TVRs,996T, 981s, Lotus Exige on the Hull ferry.

See several Lambos and Fezzas getting on at the same time, every June....

The guys in that ferry know what they're doing with low slung cars and will help.

Just make sure you're not on the mezzanine level would be my only advice. Not height related, just one year a truck broke down underneath and we were stuck on board for about 3 hours!

I prefer the euro tunnel, never had a problem loading, they always put low riders on the bottom level, you can stay with your car avoiding idiots banging doors in to yours and its quicker. The last time I used the ferry a car moved and hit the car beside mine, thankfully it missed mine, but only just.

Another tip be careful, with the loading ramps on and off before you get on the train.

As per Ellepy, you won't gave a problem. You could get pretty much anything on the ferry. If it will go over a speed bump it will go on the ferry.

Our 997.1 Turbo has no problems at all getting on ferries. One tip for Euro tunnel is to keep right when leaving terminal car park and go in the caravan lane. The car's track is a little too tight for the standard carriages and it's all too easy to damage one's alloys.

This^ is what you need to do. Book for a tall vehicle and you will have no problem.

hull - rotterdam ferry no issue at all in a low 997 GT3 RS. theres no steep loading ramp you just drive flat across a bridge. ferry at dover is different

Looking at the Eurotunnel website, what do you book to ensure this: add roofbox/bikes or pretend to be van or campervan?!
