Have to cross London in a 997.1 GT3

The old gal failed to start last week, failed alternator killed the battery. Seat belt recoil also was a bit weak. Recovered the car to OPC east london (west isn't accepting many cars due to the refurb).
All work done under warranty, have to go pick her up before 6pm today. Tubing from the city, then need to drive home to the other side of London.
I'm looking forward to getting her back, not so much the drive! Give me some motivation! Or ideas to make the traffic interesting......

The last suggestion is what I'm thinking. Going to stop at Lahore kebab on commercial road for a quick one, should be much more manageable leaving there at say 8pm
If we're talking badly packed kebabs, may I suggest a brief detour to the Naggs Head on Whitechapel High Street? Pound in the pint glass. You get the picture. Picked the car up at 6pm, I do like East London OPC – their new site is great. Parking is good, wide spaces. What’s not to like! The receptionist was very nice, I always try my best to turn up to OPCs looking like a thug about to rob the place, just to see their reaction. I changed out of my suit into jeans and tee shirt, but had a rugged outdoor jacket on with hood on after leaving Gallions Reach tube station. Crossed over to the OPC, had a quick peruse of the cars in the car park – noticed a very nice GT4 (comfort seats - Demon would have spat on it).
All work done, car started on the button. New seat belt feels nice also!
Headed towards isle of dogs, bit of traffic by one of the blackwall tunnel roundabouts but navigated through that in the left lane and towards limehouse. Did get a nice run after the first camera in limehouse and graced a few of the commuters to the full glory of the mezger at 8k rpm.
Not much traffic in to the city via the highway, although I did feed up to commercial road about half way down.
Picked up the wife, chow down at Lahore – been going for 30 years and know the owners so never disappoints. Left at about 7.30pm
Run back was actually pretty good, headed towards old street, past kings cross – euston road traffic behaved itself, through regents park (love going through the park) and home. Took less than 30mins, just the way I like it!
Left leg was ok, I do use 1st and 2nd predominately in London although did have a few lazy 3rd and 4th gear sections. As it’s coming up to 6 years with the old gal I have certainly conditioned my left leg to the clutch. If I ever do get in a normal car with a clutch the first time I engage it I nearly break the pedal!
Molly – I will do that in the summer, bit cold in the winter methinks!
Flopp3r, not frequented the nags head, isn’t that the same pub name as “only fools and horses”?
Anyway, good to drive her day to day without worrying about values and options. You can drive a older GT3 without losing the ability to walk on your left leg and retain your hearing in a busy city. Proven tonight

Done it plenty of times. Sure your left knee won't thank you, but sometimes its nice to just sit there in traffic wrapped up in those seats while the world around you goes about its business.All work done under warranty, have to go pick her up before 6pm today. Alternatively, why not take the Mrs for dinner out Berkshire way and schlepp back home once the traffic dies down?
