Lightweight over power is a step in the right direction!
Absolutely; I'd quite happily lose 50BHP for -200kg. Can't see it though with all the regs now regarding nannying electrics, safety systems, tyre px sensors...Alfa, with the 4c have the right idea. Just imagine one of those with a 400bhp Boxer engine

When you say next batch, do you mean the next model after the 991, also be interesting to see how the RWS, will work with a stick shift, for me this is what makes the GT3 and the TTS, 918, the RWSAndreas P interviewed reveals that the next batch of GT cars will be offered with PDK or manual gearboxes.

Hi ApoloWell yes, I'm referring to the 992 GT cars as the 991 range is drawing to a close this year so there wont be a 991.2 on any model as it's going straight to 992 production, well that's my understanding of the situation?

may I enquire what you mean by 992 to 991....my understanding this year, is the FL and some new engines, that's not 992, when I say 992 I mean like a platform change like 996 to 997 etc......Well yes, I'm referring to the 992 GT cars as the 991 range is drawing to a close this year so there wont be a 991.2 on any model as it's going straight to 992 production, well that's my understanding of the situation?

As Scott said I saw recently that the next turbocharged cars would be designated as 992 and not 991.2, I may be wrong on this? Whatever the designation 992 or 991.2 there will be a batch of GT cars to come it seems according to AP.With regards to 997 from 996 the basic platform was the same, new interior and exterior design but not to much different
chassis wise, in fact 996 to 997 was really the mother of all facelifts and then new engines at 997.2 stage.
I think that giving an option to have either manual or PDK will show just how die hard stick shift customers really do like the manual option, or whether, as Ferrari found out, everyone loves to profess their undying love of the stick, but PDK orders still come up as the majority.
We'll have to wait and see

I was close getting an RS, but in the end decided against for 2 reasons (i) it is a little too expensive for me right now and I was not sure I'd not rather have a used Speciale instead at similar (say 10% more) price point and (ii) it is only available as pdk (therefore the Speciale comparisons in my mind as I do like the theatre of a Ferrari). If it had been available as manual, that would have probably swung it and I'd have taken it - esp. given that I do not do track days and ultimate speed for me is pretty much irrelevant. So I will be one of the ones who will certainly pick the manual option if they make it available on a GT 911. Having said that, I suspect the majority will order it as PDK and only a minority (many of them on Pistonheads and similar forums) will go for the manual option. We'll have to wait and see

Manual version deff on the way, what has rws got to do with manual,is it because the engine is to revvy!
Apparently the manual will be significantly lighter, 7 bespoke ratios, hopefully no rws.
no doubt that there will be the likes of a stick GT4, GTS, but on the halo stuff like the RS and GT3, it will never happen imho, every second counts, needs the tech on the back end...to much of an advantage to give it upApparently the manual will be significantly lighter, 7 bespoke ratios, hopefully no rws.
Reviving an old thread, I know, but it seemed unnecessary to start a new one.
Got myself on the list for a 991.2 GT3. If it is indeed the last naturally aspirated 911, it's the only car I would imagine swapping my 997 GTS for, and though it will be a sizeable investment for me, I want to have bought one car new in my life. There is an option to buy a 991.1 GT3 in the meantime, but I will likely hold off as I am enjoying the GTS immensely and want to feel like I'm 'done' with it before moving on.
I'm still very much worried about the 911 'feel' being lost in the newer cars, and the recent review of the 991.2 Carrera in EVO did nothing to assuage my fears. Any input from knowledgeable owners of 991.1 GT3/GT3RSs would be much appreciated.
