Watched the early green 911 targa project again earlier ,Mike Brewer should be ashamed of himself apparently the things to look out for are when considering an early 911 purchase are (in no order) check for white emulsification under the oil filler as that can mean a head gaskets gone! (this is a 74ish a/c 911) oh make sure its not a cat "A" ,tempered by the "mechanic" adjusting the spark plug gap with a "vernier gauge" in disguise as a feeler gauge. No mention of gearbox or corrosion at all.
Should they not do better on a TV show?

I've not watched that one for a while, but don't they have to replace the gearbox?
This would suggest to most viewers that it's an area of concern.
Yes to be fair I suppose so, but they could have listed a few bullet points, they were away from the project car with an "enthusiast owner" and asked what are the main things to look out for when purchasing an early 911,IMO it only needed a bit of effort, but I guess its only a TV programme weak content being the norm these days. This would suggest to most viewers that it's an area of concern.
Two of Mike's 911's are coming up for auction. The red one I remember watching the episode on....guide price of 60-80K for an SC seems a bit high to me.
